​About Us:

Centre for the Arts is a non-profit organization dedicated to arts education. Our mission is to create a safe environment for children and adults to discover, nurture, and expand their artistic abilities. We believe the arts unite people from all backgrounds and transform people and their communities. We offer a range of programs that include group classes in art, musical theater, boxing, tumbling, dance, teen theater, pottery, and sewing. We offer private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, folk instruments, and drums.

Open Positions:

Art Instructor:

Seeking a weekly group instructor for the 2025-26 school year with experience teaching visual art to children ages 6 and up.

​

Position Overview:

Our art instructor plans lessons for each week in advance, arrives early to prepare materials, and instructs students for one hour, weekly. â€‹Our art classes are divided by age: 6-8 year olds, 9-12 year olds, and 13 & up (teen class). 

​​

Schedule:

We hold 3 group classes for art that meet weekly from August 18 - December 18, 2025 and January 6 - May 3, 2026. Classes will be scheduled on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday according to our new hire's availability. 

​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead engaging art lessons for students of varying ages and skill levels.

  • Teach foundational and advanced art techniques, including drawing, painting, color theory, mixed media, and more.

  • Prepare and organize materials, equipment, and classroom space. 

  • Plan and prepare for our student art exhibit at Spring Showcase (May)

  • Track student attendance, participation, and progress.

  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.

Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience with children or adults in a classroom or workshop setting.

  • Proficiency in a variety of art media and techniques. 

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Ability to adapt lessons to different learning styles and age groups.

​

Compensation: 

Group Class instructors are paid $8 per student per week.

​
